Construction
What’s happening with construction projects in our neighborhoods and the progress we’re making.
It’s important to us that our residents know what’s happening with construction projects in their neighborhoods and the progress we’re making.
Over the years, military families have enjoyed the revitalization of our military community and the benefits of privatization. In 2003, the first Neighborhood Center for the Army, Fort Meade and Picerne was born, bringing a thriving sense of community and anticipation for the future of military housing.
Potomac Place was the first neighborhood to experience new homes on Fort Meade, however all homes on post have been touched by renovation.
Throughout 2004, there were many vertical construction efforts, and in 2005, Picerne built 128 townhomes, 22 single family homes and a Neighborhood Center in Meuse Forest. Along the same line, ten historic renovations were completed, as well as 500 renovations across all Fort Meade Neighborhoods. In September, the Leasing and Relocation Center opened their new location near the main gate, to better assist incoming and current residents with finding their perfect home.
During the following three years, Picerne added another 140 townhomes to Meuse Forest, and began to transform the Heritage Park Neighborhood by constructing 139 townhomes and opening Fort Meade’s third Neighborhood Center. Potomac Place received 57 single family homes and 25 additional town home units. Approximately 200 renovations throughout Fort Meade were completed in these years as well.
In 2009 and 2010, Picerne completed many combination renovations in the Midway Common Neighborhood. This is a major renovation which involves combining two existing townhomes and creating one spacious, multi-bedroom home. These renovations will continue in some areas until the end of the construction phase in 2012. Fort Meade received their fourth neighborhood center in Midway Common, and the last group of 132 new homes came to Fort Meade in the Meuse Forest Neighborhood.
We are constantly growing and evolving, so stay tuned!
