Project Scope
Building homes for our military families!
Picerne Military Housing has partnered with the U.S. Army at Fort Meade in its Residential Communities Initiative to develop, build, own and maintain military family housing that will enhance quality of life and increase Army retention.
Fort Meade was the first Installation that Picerne Military Housing won and was one of the first four pilot Posts to test the Residential Army Communities Initiative of privatizing on-Post family housing. Picerne Military Housing assumed responsibilities at Fort Meade in May 2002.
Fort Meade has a total of 6 Neighborhoods with 5 Neighborhood Offices, 2 Neighborhood Centers and a Leasing and Relocation Center . A new Neighborhood Center and 139 brand new JNCO Town homes are currently under construction in Heritage Park and will be completed in 2008. An additional Neighborhood Center will be built in the Midway Common Neighborhood in 2009. By the end of the initial development period in 2012, every home will be new or renovated, and our Fort Meade families will be able to enjoy 4 Neighborhood Centers. Currently, the Construction and Development team at Fort Meade has built over 585 new homes and has renovated over 880 homes.
Each Neighborhood Center will have its own swimming pool, basketball area, lounge area, community room, fitness center, tot-lots, picnic areas, mail drops, maintenance facility, computer lab and other open spaces for community activities.
In 2012, Fort Meade will have a total of 2,627 residential homes on nearly 930 acres of land. Residences include single family homes as well as townhouses, in architectural styles ranging from Colonial to Arts & Crafts. Picerne Military Housing will also manage and maintain the property for the next 50 years.
If an existing home is slated for renovation or demolition, Picerne will move the current residents into homes which have been improved from the home they currently live in. Existing homes that are slated for out-year demolition and re-development will be renovated to make them comfortable for the residents until the time when homes will be removed. Renovations will include upgrades such as carpeting, vinyl, new electrical fixtures and plumbing hardware.
There are 112 historic homes on Fort Meade that will be renovated and preserved. Exterior renovations will include new paint, windows, gutters and downspouts repaired or replaced, and landscape enhancements. The interior modifications will vary by home but will include such upgrades as remodeled kitchens and bathrooms.
